Morocco Announces Partial Reimbursement Plan for Expats’ Sea Travel Tickets

Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) who return to Morocco by sea as part of the Marhaba Operation are now informed of the conditions and procedures for the payment of the amounts corresponding to the partial reimbursement of the crossing tickets. The Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water and the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform have just published a joint order.
This order comes in application of the royal high instructions aimed at facilitating the return of MREs, and as part of the implementation of the procedures for partial reimbursement of the crossing tickets by sea, made by the MREs returning to Morocco, through the maritime lines connecting the ports of France and Italy to those of the Kingdom of Morocco, indicates in a press release the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water.
According to the explanations of the ministry, any resident abroad, of Moroccan nationality, who returns to Morocco by sea, during the period from June 15 to September 30, 2021, and whose travel ticket price exceeds the reference rate set by the administration, can benefit, for only once, a partial reimbursement between 1,000 and 3,000 dirhams. This partial reimbursement does not concern trips on board the two ships (Victoria1 and Romantika) chartered by the Moroccan state and whose operation has been entrusted to the Moroccan company Intershipping, it is specified.
The ministry has set up an accessible platform on the link https://marhaba2021.mtpnet.gov.ma, in order to facilitate the partial reimbursement of the amounts of the tickets. It allows any eligible passenger for reimbursement to make the request by entering all the required information and the documents justifying their eligibility (passport, identity card, residence permit, round-trip ticket...).
The reimbursements, in dirhams, for the benefit of eligible travelers who have properly made the request, will be made by bank transfer to their bank accounts opened in Morocco or, where applicable, through the network of BARID BANK and BARID CASH agencies, it is also specified.
