Morocco to Announce Ramadan Start Date After Moon Sighting Tonight

While most Arab and European countries already know the start date of Ramadan, Morocco must officially wait for the decision of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, which is due to intervene tonight.
Thus, the observation of the crescent moon must take place only this 29th of Sha’ban of the Hegira, which corresponds to May 5, 2019. It is following this observation that the start date of Ramadan will only be announced to Moroccans.
"Judges, Nadhirs and delegates of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs are invited to inform this department of the observation of the crescent moon or its non-observation by contacting the following telephone numbers: (0537.76.11.45), (0537.76.09.32), (0537.76.05.49) and (0537.76.89.54) or the fax number (0537.76.17.21)," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
Unlike many countries, Morocco should start the month of fasting on Tuesday, May 7, according to astronomical calculations. Definitive answer tonight.
