Morocco and Spain to Revive Ambitious Submarine Tunnel Project at Key Meeting

A key meeting is scheduled between Morocco and Spain to give new impetus to the project to build a submarine tunnel between the two countries.
This 44th meeting of the Moroccan-Spanish joint commission will take place in Morocco, in accordance with the tradition of alternating meetings between the two countries, indicates SNRTNews.
The organization of this meeting comes after the formation of the new Spanish government and follows bilateral discussions focused on strengthening relations in the fields of equipment and transport. The announcement of the joint organization of the 2030 World Cup with Portugal is pushing the parties to accelerate the studies related to the project.
The purpose of this meeting is to set up a new work program for the tunnel project. This program will be executed by the National Society for Studies on the Strait of Gibraltar (SNED) and the Spanish company SECEGSA, both responsible for the studies necessary for the realization of the project.
These studies include technical and geological analyzes as well as surveys on both sides of the strait. This step marks an important progress in the efforts to finally materialize the submarine link envisaged between the two continents.
