Morocco and Norway Strengthen Ties, Discuss Sahara Issue in High-Level Talks

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita had a videoconference meeting on Thursday with his Norwegian counterpart Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide. During this exchange, several issues were discussed, including the Sahara.
During their exchanges, the two ministers welcomed the good relations between Morocco and Norway, while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening them through political consultations and the establishment of a joint roadmap to implement real initiatives that are beneficial to Norway and Morocco. Proud of the pandemic management by their two countries, they emphasized the need to prioritize the post-Covid period in order to better develop a partnership agenda and sectoral visits, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement.
On regional and international issues of common interest, the Norwegian Foreign Minister congratulated Morocco on its stabilizing role in the region, the statement said, announcing a working visit by I.M. Eriksen Soreide to Morocco before the end of this year.
It should be recalled that Norway is a non-permanent member of the Security Council from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022.
