Morocco and Libya Agree to Repatriate 195 Detained Moroccan Migrants

During a visit to Morocco, Libyan Vice President of the Presidential Council Abdallah Ellafi announced that 195 Moroccans detained in Libya will be repatriated to the Kingdom.
This repatriation will be coordinated by the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior and the Libyan authorities, according to Abdallah Ellafi, Vice President of the Presidential Council, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, following talks with Nasser Bourita.
The Libyan official reassured the minister of the detention conditions of these 195 Moroccan nationals. They are mostly detained in centers for illegal stay, as Libya is a stage for clandestine immigration to Europe.
Other groups of Moroccans are also detained for the same reasons, particularly in Algeria and Tunisia. Their families, supported by several NGOs, have repeatedly called for their repatriation.
