Morocco and Algeria Tourism to France Plummets as Domestic Travel Surges

Morocco and Algeria are the big absentees of the summer in terms of tourist activity in France.
According to Fabrice Dariot, head of the Bourse des vols agency, France and the French overseas departments and territories are among the good summer sales. "The troubled summer of 2020 saw the triumph of ’France and its islands’ in terms of dry flights. The clientele, plagued by doubts and fluctuating health and consular information, chose reassuring destinations: mainland France, Corsica, the French West Indies," he said. According to him, the Greco-Latin European countries have also managed to seduce and convince the French. These are Italy, Spain, Greece and Portugal.
Mr. Dariot also noted that Tunisia is the only Maghreb country to have maintained a summer flow of activity. "The big absentees of the summer are Algeria, Morocco, the USA, Canada and Thailand," he said.
