French Interior Minister to Visit Morocco for Talks on Unaccompanied Migrant Minors

The current French Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, announced that he will travel to Morocco in the coming days to discuss the issue of unaccompanied minors.
"The President of the Republic has long been dealing with this issue, particularly in a diplomatic relationship with our Moroccan and Algerian friends. I will go to Morocco and Algeria," he said on Wednesday on France Inter.
Also, he said he is working a lot on this with his colleague from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian. For him, it is a question of security, child protection and diplomacy. "We absolutely have to solve this problem at the European level," the minister stressed.
According to Mr. Darmanin, there are "16,000 unaccompanied minors" in France and not 40,000, as reported by Le Figaro. "It’s 16,000 and not 40,000, as I may have read, who are registered and followed in particular by the departments," he said.
