Morocco’s New EU Ambassador Youssef Amrani Set to Begin Mission

Appointed in October 2021 by King Mohammed VI to the post of ambassador of Morocco to the European Union, Youssef Amrani is said to have received the approval of the European authorities to start his mission at the end of this year.
Remained vacant since March 22, 2021, after the appointment of Ahmed Rahhou as president of the Competition Council, the post of ambassador of Morocco to the European Union can now be operational again, according to Africa Intelligence. The media points out that the EU has just handed Youssef Amrani the accreditation that will allow him to occupy this position.
At 69 years old, the native of Tangier has held many diplomatic positions such as ambassador of Morocco in Colombia, Chile and Mexico. He was also Secretary of State for the Maghreb Union between 1989 and 1992 and Consul General in Barcelona between 1992 and 1996. Youssef Amrani was also a member of the Royal Cabinet between 2013 and 2018.
The new ambassador of Morocco to the EU holds a degree in economics from the University Mohammed V in Rabat and a diploma in management from the Boston University School of Management.
