Morocco Allocates $580 Million to Bolster Border Security with Algeria

5.8 billion dirhams. This is the budget that Morocco has planned in the 2025 finance bill to strengthen the surveillance of its borders with Algeria. These funds will be used to acquire weapons and ammunition and to build infrastructure to secure the border areas of the kingdom.
"The performance credits have increased compared to the previous year in order to launch new projects aimed at supporting and strengthening proactive defense and security plans," said Abdellatif Loudiyi, the minister delegate in charge of national defense administration, during the debate on the draft budget of his department.
Morocco will intensify its efforts in the surveillance of its land borders and its coasts (Mediterranean and Atlantic), added the minister, stressing that "the surveillance of our borders is one of the main concerns of our army, for which material and human resources are mobilized to face any suspicious intrusion."
In this perspective, the kingdom will install fixed points and advanced posts, and deploy electronic systems and modern equipment, including fixed and mobile radars, vibration sensors, as well as drones.
