Morocco’s Akchour Waterfalls Closed to Tourists Amid COVID-19 Surge

In application of the provisions intended to limit the spread of Covid-19, the Akchour Waterfalls 15 km from Chefchaouen, famous for its mountains and water sources, have been closed to the public.
The local authorities, the services of the Royal Gendarmerie and the Auxiliary Forces have thus blocked all access points to the site, in order to curb the significant flow of tourists during this summer period.
For the inhabitants of the region and the city of Chefchaouen, the decision to close the site comes at an opportune time and will prevent the appearance of new clusters in the province.
A place of freshness and long hikes, the small village of Akchour, renowned for its natural landscapes dotted with deep gorges and water sources, is an increasingly popular destination for national and foreign tourists.
