Morocco Aims for 5G Rollout Ahead of 2030 World Cup Co-Hosting

Morocco is working to have a 5G internet connection before 2030, the year it will co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
To succeed in hosting this global sporting event, Morocco is working to improve the quality of its internet connection. The government’s wish is to ensure permanent availability of the 5G internet connection at the level of hotels, stadiums, training sites, fan gathering areas, said Ghita Mezzour, Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, during an oral question session at the House of Representatives on Monday.
The minister recalled that the deployment of 5G is part of the national digital development strategy, before stressing that this service, which will be launched in the medium term, offers several advantages such as the speed of the connection, which allows the transfer and processing of large amounts of data in a reduced time. 5G will also foster industrial development and the advent of smart buildings, cars and cities, the official said.
