Morocco Aims to Keep Travel Affordable for Diaspora in ’Marhaba 2024’ Operation

Mohamed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics, assures that his department is working to guarantee affordable ticket prices for Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) as part of the Marhaba operation.
As the Marhaba operation approaches, Morocco is mobilizing to facilitate the return of Moroccans living abroad to the country. Responding to a question from the Socialist group in the House of Representatives, Mohamed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics, affirmed that the government is working to increase the reception capacity of air and maritime transport services, in order to facilitate access for members of the Moroccan community residing abroad to the kingdom.
Regarding maritime transport, more than 500,000 passengers are transported per week in a single direction and 4,000 international trips are organized each week. As for air transport, Tanger Ibn Battouta airport has scheduled 450 flights instead of 300 weekly flights previously.
Abdeljalil also assured that his ministry is mainly focused on the quality of services, and relies on competition in these services. His department is working, he added, to ensure that ticket prices do not exceed a reasonable level. According to him, the rise in prices is explained by the increase in demand for these tickets.
