Morocco Aims to Double Hotel Capacity to 500,000 Beds for 2030 World Cup

In preparation for the 2030 World Cup, which it is co-organizing with Spain and Portugal, Morocco plans to increase the capacity of new hotels to 500,000 beds to accommodate the many tourists who will visit the kingdom on this occasion.
Tourism is booming in Morocco, which is working to maintain this pace in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup that it is co-organizing with Spain and Portugal. In this context, Morocco plans to increase its hotel capacity by an additional 100 to 150,000 beds. Currently, the kingdom has a capacity of around 300,000 beds.
The kingdom aims to attract 26 million tourists by 2030, 12 million more than currently and double compared to 2019. To achieve this goal, Morocco needs to forge strong partnerships. It is in this perspective that it is participating in the World Travel Market Exhibition in London as a "main partner", announced the Minister of Tourism, Crafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima Zahra Ammor.
This event provides an opportunity for Morocco to gain international visibility, attract investors and establish partnerships with a view to successfully organizing the 2030 World Cup and boosting tourism activity at the same time. At the end of September 2023, more than 490,000 British tourists had visited Morocco, an increase of 57% compared to the same period in 2022.
With these figures, the United Kingdom has become the third largest source market of tourists for Morocco. The Ministry of Tourism wants to double these arrivals of British tourists over the next three years. In this perspective, Minister Fatima Zahra Ammor has already met with large groups such as Expedia, TUI, EasyJet and the British travel company JET2, to present them with investment opportunities in the Moroccan tourism sector.
