Morocco Advances Plans for Domestic Military Industry, Including Weapons Export

Morocco is determined to acquire its own military and defense industry. In this sense, an implementing decree was published in the official bulletin dated August 9.
This decree specifies the terms of application of law 10-20, reports Maghreb Intelligent. This law covers not only the emergence of a national industry, the import, but also the export of arms and defense equipment. The decree also specifies the weapons and equipment concerned. These are light weapons, submarines and aircraft.
The terms for foreign investors wishing to set up in Morocco are also specified. In addition, the government will set up an investment commission dedicated to encouraging the sector. To carry out this undertaking, authorities will be responsible for monitoring all processes: issuing authorizations, controls, etc.
In addition to the ambition to manufacture its own weapons, Morocco also wants to become an exporting country of arms. Failing that, an African hub for industry players.
