Morocco Advances High-Speed Rail Project: Kénitra to Marrakech Line Gains Momentum

The National Railway Office (ONCF) is accelerating the project of the High Speed Line (LGV) between Kénitra and Marrakech.
The High Speed Line (LGV) project between Kénitra and Marrakech is making significant progress. Two days after the activation of the call for tenders for the civil engineering works of the section between the Oasis station and the future Casa Sud station, on the Casablanca-Sidi El Aidi line, the ONCF launched, on Thursday, a consultation for the realization of the works of engineering structures and road restoration between the Rabat Agdal and Ain Atiq stations, on the Casablanca-Sidi Kacem line. These works are located in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, more precisely in the municipalities of Rabat, Témara and Skhirat, reports Le360.
To recall, the line that will connect Kénitra to Marrakech has been designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h. It will be operated at 320 km/h, over a distance of about 450 km. It is planned to directly connect Tangier to Marrakech without passing through Casablanca. Two routes have been proposed for the train’s arrival in Casablanca. It is also planned that the high-speed train line will pass through an alternative route in Benslimane (the stadium) towards Nouaceur. This will host the establishment of a new station or a distribution center.
