Morocco Advances High-Speed Rail Project: Kénitra to Marrakech Line Enters Critical Phase

The National Railway Office (ONCF) is working to quickly realize the High-Speed Link (LGV) project between Kénitra and Marrakech.
The ONCF is looking for companies capable of carrying out the civil engineering works of the section from Kilometer Point (PK) 5+450 to PK 10+000, more precisely between the Oasis station and the future Casa Sud station, which is located on the Casablanca-Sidi El Aidi line. In this sense, the Office launched a consultation on Tuesday. In addition to earthworks, the contract includes the construction of two road bridges (Casa urban highway, National Road RN1) and three other railway bridges (Boulevard Fès, Boulevard El Qods and RP 3011), reports Le360.
Designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h, the line connecting Kénitra to Marrakech will be operated at 320 km/h, over a distance of about 450 km. It is planned to directly connect Tangier to Marrakech without going through Casablanca. Two routes have been proposed for the train’s arrival in Casablanca. It is also planned that the high-speed train line will pass through an alternative route in Benslimane (the stadium) towards Nouaceur. This will host the establishment of a new station or a distribution center.
