Morocco’s Advanced Stealth Frigate Undergoes Maintenance at French Shipyard

The Moroccan multi-mission stealth frigate Mohammed VI FREMM class is undergoing technical shutdown. The flagship of the Royal Navy is admitted to the Naval Group (former DCN) shipyards for its operational maintenance, in accordance with the contract between the Kingdom and Naval Group.
It has been replaced by the 611 Mohammed V Floréal class frigate during the maneuvers that took place on September 15 off the Atlantic coasts of the kingdom, between the Moroccan navy and the US Navy’s 6th Fleet Expeditionary Maritime Base, the USS Hershel "Woody" Williams, reports Maghreb Intelligence, adding that two patrol vessels are expected soon by the Moroccan navy to strengthen its territorial waters surveillance capacity.
In this regard, the 260 million euro contract could fall into the pockets of the French OPV Class Gowind patrol vessel, to the detriment of the Spanish Avanti 1400 patrol vessel from the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, which, until the end of 2019, had the conviction of the Moroccans.
The decision should not be long in coming, concludes the same source.
