Morocco Adjusts Clocks Ahead of Ramadan, Maintains Summer Time Year-Round

Morocco will experience a time change this Sunday, March 27. This will allow Moroccans to prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, which should begin on April 3, according to scientific calculations. However, the date will have to be confirmed by the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs.
This change in schedule is in accordance with Article 2 of Decree No. 2.18.855. Once Eid Al-Fitr is celebrated, the legal time will be advanced again. According to the government decree, the currently in force summer time is maintained permanently. This decree aims to avoid multiple changes throughout the year and their consequences.
As they await the start of the fasting month, Moroccans are wondering whether the Tarawih prayers will be performed in mosques this year, in these times of Covid-19. For now, no decision has been made in this regard despite the many calls from experts.
