Morocco Accuses Spain of Diversion Tactics in Escalating Diplomatic Crisis

The tone continues to rise between Rabat and Madrid. While Spain accuses Morocco of blackmailing on the migration issue, the head of Moroccan diplomacy, Nasser Bourita, affirms that Spain has chosen the path of diversion and insults to conceal the real cause of the crisis between the two neighboring countries.
Nasser Bourita, in an interview with MAP, indicated that Spain has engaged in recent days in maneuvers aimed at diverting public opinion from the real origin of the Moroccan-Spanish diplomatic crisis. "Madrid preferred to conspire with an adversary of Morocco on a major issue for Moroccans," the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad vehemently denounced, arguing that these actions "do not fool anyone and do not impress Morocco".
"The Spanish maneuvers aim to make the perpetrators of this crisis into victims," he was outraged, also considering it unacceptable that Spain and its justice system pretend not to notice the presence on Spanish territory of a person being prosecuted for war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes of rape and serious human rights violations, going so far as to provide him with a false identity.
Bourita was also outraged by the media hype made up of reports full of insults from the Spanish authorities, before arguing that Morocco will not tire of demanding clarifications from its partner who thought it appropriate to secretly receive someone who wages war on it daily. Indeed, the humanitarian argument put forward by Spain is not convincing, believes the Moroccan minister who thinks that a humanitarian cause is not done in secret. To this end, he called on Spain to recognize and assume "its serious attitudes" and to avoid "double talk". "Morocco is not blackmailing, Morocco is clear about its positions, its actions and its attitude," Bourita explained, condemning the "unprecedented hostile media offensive" launched in Spain against Morocco. He also denounced a campaign of instrumentalization and a mobilization of all the media that broadcast "shocking and unacceptable terms" sometimes coming from high-ranking officials of the country.
Regarding the future of relations between the two countries, the head of Moroccan diplomacy calls on Spain to define what it wants from the partnership with Morocco. Because, he added, Morocco has no complex and remains proud of its achievements and is now an emerging country and Spain knows it. Some in Spain, he pointed out, are unable to admit that the Kingdom has preserved its stability and ensured its economic progress and social development through the reforms carried out under the leadership of the King.
