Moroccans victims of a macabre network in Spain: their bodies sold at a high price

The Civil Guard has arrested 14 people, members of a network of forgers who make the families of missing migrants at sea believe that they are able to provide them with all the necessary documents for the repatriation of the latter.

The criminal network contacted, via fake profiles on social networks, relatives of migrants residing in Morocco and Algeria to obtain their personal information and simulate the activation of a search for them. The members of the network, who demanded large sums of money from the families for these various procedures, acted with the complicity of "employees of certain public institutions such as the Institute of Forensic Medicine" who provided them with data on the identification of the bodies, relays Europa Press.

The 14 defendants, including the leader of Moroccan origin, were arrested after the opening of an investigation and searches were carried out in Murcia, Almería, Cartagena, Molina de Segura and Jaén. The accused are charged with offenses of disclosure of confidential information, violation of respect for the deceased, fraud, belonging to a criminal organization, document forgery, corruption, etc. The leader and his right-hand man have been detained.
