6,200 Moroccans ordered to leave an EU country in second quarter
Between April and June 2026, 6,200 Moroccan nationals were ordered to leave an EU country. Figures published by Eurostat on September 30 put Moroccans in second place among the nationalities concerned, behind Algerians.

European authorities issued these orders to 10,390 Algerians and 5,180 Syrians over the same period, according to Eurostat. Across all non-EU nationalities, 110,335 people received an order to leave in the second quarter.
France had the highest number of people targeted: 32,420, ahead of Portugal and Germany. This ranking covers all nationals of countries outside the EU.
Fewer orders to leave, more returns
Orders to leave and completed returns followed different trends. Compared with the second quarter of 2025, the number of people ordered to leave fell by 12%. Returns to countries outside the Union, meanwhile, increased by 9.7%.
In total, 36,825 people were returned to a third country after receiving an order to leave between April and June. Germany recorded the highest number, with 8,400 people, followed by France and Poland.
Turkish nationals made up the largest group among those returned, at 3,765 people. They were followed by Syrians, numbering 2,770, and Georgians, with 2,140 returns.
