A Moroccan YouTuber banned from the internet for 10 years after his conviction

The Tangier Court of Appeal has sentenced the videographer "Moulinex" and the mother of Adam Benchekroun to six years in prison for human trafficking and sexual exploitation of a minor through social networks.

After a marathon hearing of seven hours, the court also imposed a fine of one million dirhams on Younes J. and the victim’s mother, named Ibtissam. The two defendants were given a ten-year ban on any activity on the internet, accompanied by the permanent closure of all the digital platforms of the main accused. The judges stressed the extreme gravity of these intrafamilial crimes, pointing to a direct threat to the rights of the child and public morality.

The court awarded 100,000 dirhams in civil damages to the young Adam. The latter had previously revealed chilling facts that occurred when he was younger, thus justifying the serious charges of dissemination of obscene material and public indecency.

During the debates, the defense attempted a last-minute twist by brandishing a letter allegedly written by the victim. The lawyer claimed that the plaintiff was demanding 112,000 dirhams in exchange for dropping the charges. The prosecution categorically dismissed this document from the file, demanding that it be the subject of a separate investigation. This resounding case should logically continue before the Court of Appeal in the coming months.
