Moroccan Youth Leader Files Complaint Against PM for COVID Protocol Breach

The president of the Moroccan Network of the Civic Alliance of Youth, Abdelouahed Zayat, filed a complaint against the head of government, Saâdeddine El Othmani, also boss of the PJD, for non-compliance with the preventive measures enacted to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants in the kingdom. Last week, he received the leader of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh, without respecting physical distancing and mandatory mask wearing.
The government continues to insist on compliance with health measures, but its leader, himself, tramples on the barrier gestures. While he was receiving Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, who came from Qatar, a country classified on list B, whose visitors must observe a ten-day quarantine, last week, Saâdeddine El Othmani did not respect physical distancing and mask wearing, reports Hespress. Images of the PJD secretary general, his guest and other personalities immortalizing the visit of the Hamas leader were also published on social networks. Enough to provoke the anger of Moroccans.
Abdelouahed Zayat, president of the Moroccan Network of the Civic Alliance of Youth, filed a complaint against the Head of Government. He calls for the law to be applied to El Othmani to show "the equality of all before the law". According to him, this "will strengthen the confidence of Moroccan citizens in the law". "Personally, I was fined and paid 300 DH for incorrect wearing of the mask, and many other citizens have also been fined in accordance with the law. The law must also be applied to the head of government, who is at the same time the secretary general of the Party of Justice and Development," said the official. Saâdeddine El Othmani "should have set an example for all citizens and young people in particular, at a time when the latter are being fined for not wearing a mask," he added.
