Moroccan Women Dominate List of Africa’s Most Influential Young Leaders

Two Moroccan women have been selected in the ranking of the 100 most influential young Africans of the year 2019. They are the Executive Director of the National Observatory of Children’s Rights, Lamia Bazir, and the singer, Salma Rachid. The ranking, established by Africa youth awards, is renewed each year, for the past four years.
This year, 32 countries were represented by young people in the ranking. Women, numbering 52, slightly dominate the ranking.
Lamia Bazir is a 27-year-old woman, committed to the promotion of women’s and children’s rights. She is in 51st place in the ranking.
Executive Director of the National Observatory of Children’s Rights, she works in particular on international cooperation projects, between Morocco and the United States, among others.
Education and access to employment are themes for which the activist is particularly committed and for which she has been ranked by Africa youth awards.
Further down the ranking, in 81st place, the singer Salma Rachid. Finalist of the 2nd edition of the Arab Idol Competition in 2013, the young woman has since tried her hand at several musical genres.
The Africa youth awards organization, launched in 2014, aims to highlight the achievements and contribution of young Africans involved in the development of their continent.
