Moroccan Woman Sentenced to Life for 2012 Murder of Husband Buried in Garage

The criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal of Tétouan has just sentenced a Moroccan woman to life imprisonment for the murder of her husband.
The judicial police of Tétouan announced on May 31, 2023 the arrest of a woman and her brother for their alleged involvement in the murder of the woman’s husband, which occurred in 2012 at the couple’s home in the Oued El Maleh neighborhood in Martil. The two suspects would have buried the victim’s body in the garage of the house before reporting his disappearance, thus trying to cover up their crime.
According to sources close to the case, the woman’s brother went to the Tétouan police headquarters to denounce his sister, denying any involvement in the crime. To corroborate the defendant’s statements, the Tétouan police contacted the Martil police, who dispatched a team to the woman’s home. This led to her arrest.
Subjected to questioning, the accused first denied the facts, before confessing, stressing that her brother had helped her commit this crime. The woman was ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of her husband. The charges against her brother were dropped, as he had died before the trial.
