Moroccan Woman Jailed for Bigamy and Document Fraud

For having contracted a second marriage without separating from her first husband, who was still serving a prison sentence, a Moroccan woman in her thirties has been placed in detention.
The sentence was handed down by the criminal court of the court of first instance of Meknes, which decided to keep this woman in prison, accused of falsification of administrative documents, adultery, breach of trust and fraud.
According to Aljarida24, the court rejected the request made by the defense of the accused for provisional release against the payment of bail. It also decided to postpone the next hearing to April 20.
In addition, the justice system has postponed to the same date the examination of the issues raised by the defense of the accused, namely the statute of limitations on legal proceedings against her and the settlement of a lump-sum compensation to her first husband, in exchange of course for the abandonment of the proceedings.
It should be noted that the accused is incarcerated in the women’s wing of the local Toulal prison in Meknes.
