Moroccan Woman Arrested in Spain for €15,000 Social Benefits Fraud While Living in France

A Moroccan woman residing in France was arrested last Wednesday by the police for fraudulently obtaining social benefits in Spain. In total, more than 15,000 euros were misappropriated.
According to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, the arrest took place during an operation carried out in collaboration with the municipal police of Eibar (Basque Country), who had alerted the fact that this woman, registered on the register of inhabitants of the Basque city, was receiving social benefits fraudulently.
Investigators found that the suspect, of Moroccan nationality, had claimed to live in Eibar only with her minor son, while she actually resided in France. She had rented several rooms in her Eibar apartment to other people, and had also used a third party to register these people on the apartment registers in order to obtain more social benefits.
The suspect was remanded in custody and will have to answer for her actions before the courts.
