Moroccan Wedding Turns Deadly: Bride Killed in Targeted Attack, Groom’s Criminal Past Suspected

A wedding celebration within the Moroccan community had a tragic outcome in Goult, a village in the Luberon, where a shooting broke out in the night from Saturday to Sunday. The groom, of Moroccan origin, as well as his family, were the target of an armed attack that cost the lives of two people, including the new wife.
The events occurred around 4:30 a.m., as the couple and their 13-year-old child were leaving the celebration by car, reports Le Parisien. Their vehicle was targeted by a group of four armed and hooded individuals. In an attempt to escape, the groom would have hit one of the attackers, killing him on the spot. The three other members of the commando are since on the run.
The toll of the attack is heavy: the bride was fatally shot. The groom and the couple’s child were seriously injured, as was another guest. However, the vital prognosis of the injured is not engaged.
The investigation is leaning towards the trail of a settling of scores. According to the available information, the groom is known to the police for acts of criminal conspiracy and drug trafficking offenses. It is this context that leads the investigators to favor the hypothesis of a targeted attack related to these antecedents.
