Moroccan Watchdog Exposes Multi-Million Dirham Fraud in Khouribga Public Contracts

The Moroccan network for the defense of public funds has seized Mohamed Abdennabaoui, President of the General Prosecutor’s Office, for cases of fictitious markets that have taken place in the commune of Lougfaf, province of Khouribga.
In a letter addressed to the President of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Moroccan network for the defense of public funds denounced the acts of embezzlement that have tainted the management of the commune of Lougfaf during the period from 2003 to 2012, reports Al Massae. These are fictitious public contracts.
These contracts concern public lighting, road construction and connection to the drinking water network. The commune had paid an invoice of 81,600,000 dirhams for the construction of a road between the center of the commune and the Lamchahra Ouled Ammar district, 29,736,000 dirhams for public lighting and 114,000,000 dirhams for the development of wells, on October 12, 2008. These funds were entirely diverted, as none of these contracts were executed, the same source said.
The commune also paid a fictitious electricity bill of 199,956,000 dirhams and another of 183,240,000 dirhams for drinking water consumption.
