Moroccan Villagers Protest Exclusion from COVID-19 Financial Aid, Defying Lockdown

The inhabitants of a village near Khemisset demonstrated on Monday, April 27, in front of the town hall, following their exclusion from the financial aid granted by the State to underprivileged families.
Claiming to be victims of social discrimination, the protesters condemned their exclusion from the support system intended for people who are having difficulty with the health confinement situation, even though they have a RAMED card.
Faced with the lack of reaction from the authorities, the protesters’ anger intensified over the hours. It took the intervention of the Royal Gendarmerie to disperse the crowd, who did not care about the state of emergency, let alone the health confinement.
An investigation has been opened by the prefecture of Khemisset to determine the reasons for the exclusion of this social segment from the special fund. According to the rue20 website, the involvement of certain auxiliary state agents in this matter cannot be ruled out.
