Moroccan University Produces 3D-Printed Face Shields for COVID-19 Medical Staff

Researchers from Mohammed 1st University (UMP) in Oujda are manufacturing protective 3D printed face shields. They are intended for medical personnel caring for people affected by the new coronavirus pandemic (covid-19).
The manufactured visors are "reusable, impermeable to microparticles and have an anti-fog and anti-glare facial screen". These are small details that show the usefulness of these masks for the healthcare staff who face covid-19 on a daily basis. Thanks to the collaboration of several researcher-teachers, technicians and medical staff, "a prototype of medical visors has been set up and 3D printed". The first batch was delivered to the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Oujda and the team is committed to producing more.
Other quantities of protective visors will be delivered to other hospitals in the region within one to two weeks, said UMP President Yassine Zarhloule. The university is also preparing to develop "an automatic disinfection portal, bionic arms and respirators". It wants to play its role in researching practical solutions to problems affecting society and the region, said Zarhloule, praising the skills available at the university.
