Moroccan Universities Make Strides in Global Times Higher Education Ranking

Seven Moroccan universities are featured in the Times Higher Education 2021 ranking, one of the most recognized university rankings in the world.
Times Higher Education places seven Moroccan universities in its annual ranking of the best universities in the countries. These are Ibn Tofail of Kenitra, the International University of Rabat, Moulay Ismail of Meknes, Hassan II University of Casablanca, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah of Fez, Al Akhawayn of Ifrane and Hassan I University. To establish the 2021 ranking, Times Higher Education focused on 1115 universities from 98 different countries. This ranking took into account measures based on each of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ranked 9th in the world, Ibn Tofail University distinguished itself in SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. It ranks 25th and 45th respectively for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 1 (No Poverty). In the global ranking, Ibn Tofail University was the only Moroccan university to rank among the top 200 universities, with a score of 77.5 to 85.2 and a 140th rank. It ranks 2nd in Morocco this year.
In the global top 5, we find the University of Manchester (UK) (1st), followed by the University of Sydney (Australia), RMIT University, La Trobe University and Queen’s University.
