Moroccan Union Calls for Nationwide Protests Over Gas Price Hike

Civil society organizations are preparing to demonstrate against the rise in gas prices in Morocco, of 10 dirhams for the 12 kg bottle, and 2.5 dirhams for the 6 kg bottle.
The National Union of Labor in Morocco (UNTM) has announced a series of demonstrations in front of the Parliament headquarters in Rabat and in the regions of the kingdom to protest against the rise in gas prices. The trade union organization plans to organize regional sit-ins on June 1, 2024, and a sit-in in front of Parliament on June 30, "in protest against the government’s stubbornness in pursuing its policy of deteriorating the purchasing power of Moroccan workers and all citizens."
