Moroccan Travelers Stranded in Spanish Ports as Border Closure Continues

The Marhaba 2020 operation, officially canceled, is caused by Moroccans arriving from France and other European countries with their vehicles and who are blocked in Ceuta, awaiting a hypothetical opening of the Moroccan borders.
Moroccans have arrived from France in Ceuta with their vehicles, and claim that the Moroccan borders should open on July 10. Several vehicles loaded with both people and goods are arriving in Algeciras. They believe in an imminent opening of the border and are causing a Marhaba operation that has nevertheless been officially canceled.
The authorities fear a strong influx of Moroccans or from different European countries who, due to the situation, end up settling in Ceuta or Algeciras, as Morocco keeps its land and sea borders closed.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the free parking lot of Llano Amarillo in Algeciras has been set up to open this Sunday at 6 a.m. in order to manage the flow of people, in compliance with health measures.
For now, no official date is given for the opening of the Moroccan borders.
