Moroccan Teen Dies After Livestreaming Self-Immolation, Sparking Police Investigation

The Casablanca police have opened a judicial investigation, after a 19-year-old young man broadcast his self-immolation live on Facebook.
The investigation, conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, aims to determine the reason why this young man voluntarily set himself on fire, causing him third-degree burns, and then his death at the hospital, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The case has caused a stir on social media. The young boy is said to have suffered "mistreatment" that was reserved for him in a police station after his insistence on following up on his complaint against two individuals who allegedly beat him up at the Hraouiyine wholesale fish market.
A commission from the General Directorate of National Security has been set up to investigate these allegations.
