Moroccan Surgeon’s Human Trafficking Trial Delayed Again, Court Sets New Date

The Casablanca Court of Appeal has decided to postpone the examination of the Hassan Tazi case, the name of the plastic surgeon prosecuted for human trafficking, abuse of weakness and fraud, to February 16.
This decision of the court comes after the hearing last Friday, during which three lawyers were heard in this case. According to the prosecution, the majority of the accused were found guilty of human trafficking for having exploited the vulnerability of patients suffering from chronic diseases to defraud donors.
In addition to human trafficking, the main accused, Dr. Hassan Tazi, owner of the Chifaa clinic, is accused of fraud, repeat fraud, forgery and use of forgeries and the formation of a criminal gang. He is notably accused of having falsified invoices and issued false certificates and of having used them to commit other minor offenses.
