Moroccan Students Dominate Pan-African Math Olympiad, Clinching Team Gold and Top Individual Honors

The gold medal of the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad was won by the Moroccan team, which prevailed at the 28th edition of the competition organized remotely on May 23 and 24 by Tunisia.
Six students (3 girls and 3 boys) made up the Moroccan team, which scored 178 points, ahead of South Africa (151 pts) and Tunisia (113 pts). Morocco won two gold medals. Aya Aguerjout, from Lycée Hassan II in Béni-Mellal, won the crown of "African Queen of Mathematics" and Youssef Bouhattouch, from the Lycée d’Excellence de Benguerir, the crown of "African King of Mathematics".
Hiba Benabbou, from Lycée Abdelkrim Khattabi in Nador, Asmae Hibat Allah, from Lycée d’Excellence de Benguerir, Mohamed Ayoub Mabtoul, from Lycée Mamounia in Meknès, and Adam Kharraz, from Lycée Sanabil Al Maarifa in Tétouan, won silver medals.
This participation of Morocco was highly praised by the Ministry of National Education, which congratulated the laureates, their supervisors in their respective institutions, as well as the Moroccan Mathematics Association, for this great performance.
