Moroccan Student Sentenced to 4 Years for Criticizing King on Facebook

Prosecuted for criticizing the person of the king, desecration and insult to national institutions, a young man was sentenced, on Monday, February 10, by the court of first instance of Inezgane, to a sentence of 4 years in prison with a fine of 20,000 dirhams.
In a video posted on his Facebook page, the young Omar Ikhrichi had addressed scathing criticism to King Mohammed VI, before being apprehended by the police.
Convicted of defamation, insult and insults against the sacred values of the country, the young student, originally from Ait Melloul, is still pursuing his higher education in the 2nd year of university.
At the beginning of the year, a YouTuber known as "Moul lhanout" had received 3 years in prison for broadcasting a video containing outrageous remarks against the person of the Moroccan sovereign.
