Moroccan Striker Akhomach Rejects Saudi Riches, Commits to Villarreal

Moroccan international Ilias Akhomach rejected lucrative offers from major Saudi clubs during the last summer transfer window, preferring to prove himself at Villarreal.
Akhomach said he turned down offers from big Saudi clubs like Al-Hilal, who offered him a huge salary to secure his services during the summer transfer window. But the Moroccan striker made it clear that he is not tempted by a Saudi adventure and that he prefers to stay in Europe, specifically at Villarreal.
The 20-year-old player remains focused on his goal: to progress and succeed at Villarreal. "I have very clear ideas. I left Barcelona to come here and succeed at Villarreal. I had offers that I had to accept because they are surprising, but as I said, I have very clear ideas and I want to stay here and succeed at Villarreal," he assured.
The Atlas Lion wants to establish himself in this Spanish club where the competition is fierce in attack. "The competition makes us better. The players and the team. Having players like Baena, Yeremy or Pepe is very positive. It makes the decision difficult for the coach, but it’s good for the team, because it forces us to give everything in every training session."
Villarreal faces Barcelona this Sunday. A match that promises to be difficult for the Moroccan international who was trained at La Masia and played in the Blaugrana’s reserve team. "It’s always difficult to face Barça, they are the Liga leaders, but we have very clear ideas and we are working to win this match," said Akhomach.
