Moroccan Steel Magnate and Philanthropist Fadel Sekkat Dies from COVID-19 at 75

Fadel Sekkat, businessman and president of the steel company "Maghreb Steel", died on Saturday, April 4, in a hospital in Casablanca, from the consequences of the coronavirus, at the age of 75.
Highly respected in the industrial and business community, the deceased had particularly distinguished himself through his many acts of patronage and philanthropy, through the Sekkat Foundation.
The businessman had fought to make his company prosper, which faced fierce foreign competition. He had been its chief executive officer for nearly 3 decades.
For the president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Chakib Alj, the business world has lost a great man and an iconic figure of Moroccan industry.
"Fadel Sekkat was an exceptional businessman, known for his wisdom and generosity. Our Confederation is in mourning and our private sector is losing one of its deans," he concluded.
