Moroccan State TV Channels Face Scrutiny Over $100 Million Deficit Despite Massive Subsidies

Despite the annual subsidies, estimated by the Court of Auditors at 1 billion dirhams, the two national television channels continue to show an annual deficit of 200 million dirhams.
This figure was revealed on Tuesday, January 28, by the President of the Court of Auditors, Driss Jettou, during the presentation of the annual report to the Moroccan parliament.
For the watchdog of public money, the programs presented by the two audiovisual poles in no way meet the aspirations of the Moroccan public, despite the considerable sums paid by the taxpayer.
According to the annual report, an annual state aid, estimated at 940 million dirhams, is allocated to Al Oula, and 60 million dirhams to the Aïn Sebaa channel, 2M.
