Moroccan Stars Shun Spotlight: Celebrities Embrace Privacy in Digital Age

Many Moroccan celebrities choose to live away from the spotlight. Singer Ibtissam Tiskat and actor Ezzoubair Hilal are among those who prefer a discreet private life.

While Moroccan celebrities like Rachid El Ouali, Farid Ghannam, and Fatima Zahra El Harrach share about their couples on social media, this is not the case for Mocci. On the sidelines of his participation in the Mawazine Rythmes du Monde Festival, he evaded questions about his private life during a press conference. He specified that he wanted to talk about his musical works and concerts without addressing personal details, while journalists expected him to confirm or deny the rumors about his relationship with Moroccan actress Kawtar Tissia, reports Madar21.

Moroccan singer Amine Tamri, alias Aminux, adopted the same stance. Responding to a question about the absence of sharing photos of his marriage with his fans on his social media accounts during his press conference before his concert at the same festival, he stated that marriage is a private matter in Moroccan traditions, that Moroccan families are conservative, and that his partner refuses to appear in public. Invited to perform at the same festival, Moroccan singer Ikram El Abdia also refused to talk about her private life in order to avoid being a subject of curiosity on social networks.

Singer Ibtissam Tiskat has repeatedly expressed her displeasure with questions about her personal life and marriage. She says she prefers to share her art with her audience. Other artists like Naouman Belayachi, Ihab Amir, Maria Nadim, ‪Narjiss El Hallak and Ezzoubair Hilal also keep their private lives hidden. They even refuse to share photos of their partners and children.

In addition to Moroccan artists, Arab artists also opt for discretion. This is the case of the Lebanese Carole Samaha. "My husband completely refuses to show himself and prefers to stay away from the spotlight, and I share this desire with him to protect my family," she said during a press conference held on the occasion of her participation in the Mawazine Festival. For his part, the Syrian Nassif Zaitoun is discreet in his life by avoiding exposing his marriage to the Lebanese Daniella Rahme.
