Moroccan Star Medhi Benatia Refutes Retirement Rumors Amid Injury Concerns

The rumors circulating about a probable retirement of the Moroccan international Medhi Benatia are false and are fueled by the physical difficulties the player has experienced in recent weeks.
The Moroccan player who plays for Fatih Karagümrük has not decided to end his professional career as the rumors have spread. Medhi Benatia, according to the Turkish press, would have even made an appointment with the club president to inform him of his decision. In a statement, the Moroccan defender provided a formal denial, stating that he was surprised by this information.
"Following several rumors that have appeared in the press, I would like to say that indeed I am very affected by my relapse and this new injury, but for the moment my priority is to heal properly. I will make the best decisions necessary when the time comes," specified the former AS Roma player.
The former captain of the Atlas Lions joined Qatar in January 2019 following an incessant conflict with his coach at Juventus in Turin. The Moroccan player could not stand his exclusion during the matches. After Massimo Allgeri’s departure, he was announced to be returning to the Italian club. But he preferred to continue his career in Turkey and joined Fatih Karagumruk, in July, on a free transfer.
At 34 years old, Medhi Benatia is a seasoned professional. He has played for Juventus, Marseille, Roma and Bayern Munich. He won three Serie A titles with Juventus and two Bundesliga championships with Bayern Munich.
