Moroccan soldiers marine combat vests US military equipment

The United States is preparing the supply to Morocco of 230 plate carrier vests designed for maritime operations. The equipment should allow soldiers to maintain their mobility in water while offering ballistic protection suited to high-risk interventions.

The U.S. Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground has launched a consultation for the acquisition of 104 small-sized vests, 104 medium-sized vests and 22 large-sized vests, as part of the American military sale ZB-B-WDX intended for Morocco. Companies have until August 4 to submit their proposals, according to the official notice published on SAM.gov

Coyote Tan in color, the equipment must adopt the characteristics of the JPC 2.0 model or present equivalent performance. The specifications notably require a system allowing rapid water evacuation, an emergency release mechanism, a traction handle and an adjustable waistband equipped with MOLLE straps.

The vests must also be able to receive SAPI ballistic plates. The contract, however, covers the plate carriers themselves and does not specify that ballistic protections will be supplied with each unit.

The contract will be reserved for small American businesses. Refurbished materials are excluded and equipment must comply with the Berry Amendment, which requires American manufacturing for several categories of textiles and clothing purchased by the Department of Defense.
