Moroccan Soccer Fans Chant for Gaza as Israel-Hamas Conflict Continues

Saturday 28 October 2023, by Sylvanus

As the fight between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas continues, the Qatari media Al Jazeera celebrates in its own way the moving chant of the supporters of Raja Casablanca in favor of Palestine.

"Rajawi Falastini". Al Jazeera highlighted this song sung by the supporters of Raja Casablanca in favor of Palestine in the stadiums, but also during demonstrations gathering thousands of people in Rabat and other Moroccan cities to condemn the Israeli aggression against Gaza. In unison, the demonstrators took up a part of the song in chorus: "We will not abandon you, Gaza. Despite the distance, you are close to me, O Rafah and Ramallah, our nation is sick, affected by the problems and corruption of the government, while the Arab world lives in misery and the future is only darkness".

They also called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for the massacres and war crimes committed against civilians, including children. In a statement to the Qatari media, Hicham said he refuses to watch the UEFA Champions League "while our brothers are being massacred". He added: "I no longer feel like any form of entertainment; I feel like I’m betraying the tragedy of our murdered brothers in Gaza".

In total, 7,000 people, including more than 2,900 children, have been killed in the Palestinian territory, according to a report published Thursday by the Hamas Ministry of Health, which controls the Gaza Strip. At least 24 journalists on duty have lost their lives. Not to mention the family of Wael Dahdouh, the head of the Al Jazeera office in Gaza. A sit-in is expected to take place on Monday in front of the Moroccan Parliament to denounce the murder of journalists.
