Moroccan Singer Faces Backlash Over Domestic Violence Comments on TV Show

In a self-referral, the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) wants to deal with the "Adil El Miloudi" case relating to the advocacy of domestic violence. This follows the reappearance of a program broadcast on June 29 on Chada TV and widely relayed on social networks.

The High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) wants to put an end to the excesses of the singer Adil El Miloudi. He had shown himself to be misogynistic during his appearance on the "Kotbi night" program, broadcast on June 29.

"To be a man, you have to hit your wife," he had affirmed. This statement shocked many Internet users and international media who widely reported it to denounce the singer’s misconduct.

Despite the palpable discomfort of the presenter Imad Kotbi who tried to cover up by launching, "everywhere in the world, you must not hit a woman", the laughter was rather good on the set where the actor Samy Naceri was also present.

This scene was obviously not to the liking of Internet users who were able to follow the video two months later. Indignation is rife. With its monitoring system, HACA managed to spot the controversial video. The singer is not, however, at his first slips on issues related to women.

In March 2015, Adil El Miloudi had made threats against the director Nabil Ayouch and the actress Loubna Abidar in the song "Kifach Houma Mahadrouch?" ("Why didn’t they speak?"). He had also publicly supported, in 2018, the singer Saad Lamjarred accused of rape.

These repeated antics of the artist Adil El Miloudi rekindle the debate on gender-based violence in the Kingdom where 54.4% of Moroccan women continue to be victims, according to a study by the Ministry of Family.
