Moroccan Scientists Sequence Coronavirus Genome, Vaccine Development Underway

The medical biotechnology laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rabat announced that it has successfully sequenced the entire genetic code of the coronavirus and that a potential vaccine will be ready very soon.
In a statement to the Al Oula channel, the director of the laboratory, Azzeddine El Ibrahim, specified that "the Moroccan laboratory has managed to sequence the genome of the coronavirus, whose stable genetic profile makes it easy to find a vaccine".
This research work, which is part of the national "Genome" project, involved the participation of several Moroccan researchers, including the current Minister of National Education, Saaïd Amzazi, a specialist in Immunology.
The director added that the laboratory, which has not limited itself to the Moroccan reference genome, has focused on the analysis of the genomes of 58 countries, in particular their sequencing and evolution over time and space.
