Moroccan Scientist Develops Breakthrough for Faster EV Charging

As part of the "French Lab Singapore", Moroccan researcher and entrepreneur Rachid Yazami proposes to solve the problem of slow charging often encountered by electric vehicles. He has set himself the mission of overcoming this difficulty that alters the charm of this type of car.

The "French Lab Singapore" is a highly technological event that aims to bring together the Singaporean university and commercial research community. Currently, it is impossible to fully charge an EV battery in less than 60 minutes without causing battery damage due to inherent undesirable effects, such as overheating and reduced battery life. The Moroccan plans to strengthen existing technology, so that instead of a one-hour charge, it can recharge the batteries of all electric vehicles in 20 minutes, reports challenge.ma.

The Moroccan researcher explains that it is "necessary to reconsider the techniques over a century old based on the application of a constant charging current and voltage monitoring to innovate and perhaps revolutionize battery charging".

Rachid Yazami is a researcher who has been awarded on many occasions for his work. In 2019, he had received the Arab Investor Award, during a forum organized at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. He has also received the Mohamed Bin Rashed Medal of Scientific Excellence in the "Lifetime Achievements" category, reports the same source.
