Moroccan Rif Protesters Transferred to New Prisons for ’Disciplinary Reasons’

The Rif Hirak detainees from the local prison of Tangier 2 are changing penitentiary institutions, for "disciplinary reasons", explains the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR).
The persons concerned were making "abusive use of the fixed telephone service to make calls that do not fall within the framework of preserving family and social ties", but to "disseminate recordings and exchange encrypted messages with their relatives", according to a statement from the DGAPR.
Deviations carried out "with the help of the father of one of them", to "claim rights unrelated to the circumstances of their detention", in violation of the legal and regulatory provisions in penitentiary institutions, the same source adds, noting that, according to human rights activists, it would be the "father" of Nasser Zefzafi, the former leader who is part of the detainees of the Tangier 2 prison. These detainees, "refused to comply with the instructions of the administration of this institution, ignored its repeated warnings, did not respect the institutions of the State and, moreover, threatened to collectively go on hunger strike," the DGAPR emphasizes.
As a result, it has decided to transfer these detainees to other penitentiary institutions, in order to put an end to these "serious offenses", indicating that the administrations of the prisons where they will be transferred will allow them to contact their families to inform them of the destination of their transfer as soon as they arrive on site.
