Moroccan Researcher Honored with Top Amazigh Culture Award at Rabat Ceremony

Researcher Lhoussaine Ait Bahcine received the 2019 Amazigh Culture Merit Award. The ceremony took place on Friday evening in Rabat.

The efforts of researcher Lhoussaine Ait Bachcine to promote the Amazigh language and culture in the Kingdom have borne fruit. This great defender of the Amazigh heritage was rewarded during the ceremony for the Amazigh culture prizes of the year 2019. The event was organized by the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM).

This ceremony is proof of IRCAM’s efforts to preserve the Amazigh cultural heritage. During the ceremony, several prizes were awarded in different categories. The national prize for media and communication went to Al Mustapha Sguenfle, a journalist in the Amazigh service at the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP) in the Print Media category for his article "D Ousmane" to "Tchaikovsky", the fabulous destiny of Belaïd El Akkaf". In the Radio Broadcasts category, the prize was won by Noureddine Najmi, while Salima El Yaacoubi was crowned in the Audiovisual category (Tamazight 8 channel). Ahmed Zahid received the prize in the Theater category. For his part, Ibrahim El Asri was rewarded in the Translation category, for his translation from French to Amazigh of Molière’s work. As for the national prize for education and teaching, it was awarded to Ayad Alhyani, Al Hassan Ait Abbou, Mohamed Lamaain and Lahcen Borji, respectively in the categories of professor-researchers, inspectors, primary school teachers and trainers.

The prize for research and computer programs was awarded to Ilias Belalia. The Azza-Khalid Abbou group was crowned with the national prize for modern song and Houssein Taoussi received the national prize for traditional song. As for the association "Arif for Culture and Heritage" from the city of Al Hoceima, it obtained the national prize for Theater. The association "Ahwach Aglagal of popular arts" from the commune of Assaki won the national prize for collective choreography.
